Fetter Fisch (D)

Moving (Umzüge)

Moving brings changes. Changes are exciting. They make life richer and more colourful. But moving also means: leaving friends, finding new friends, the cat can't come with you, the garden can't come with you, you can't take the old rooms with you either, or the school, not even your guinea pigs. There isn't any ocean in Münster, there aren't any mountains, the people talk differently and they look different.

Whether it be from Australia, Syria, France, Sweden, or simply from Cologne to Münster, from Hiltrup to the inner-city, or simply in a new room - nearly everyone has moved at least once. Where and what is home? How does one make new friends? How does one keep old friendships alive? How am I going to be welcomed in the new school? When am I going to dream in German if it is not my first language?

In "Umzüge" such questions are explored using dance, language, music and images. In the process children and youths play an important role: they tell us their own stories about moving. Goodbyes and new beginnings, new schools, vacation and moving clothes – the play shows, how lives and personalities are formed and influenced by moving.

As "artist in residence" Fetter Fisch rehearsed and researched at the Gymnasium Paulinum in Münster.
